Performance & Arts Organizations
Blank Canvas Theatre is dedicated to creating a new love for theatre in the Cleveland community while providing another venue for those who already love the arts. Think of Blank Canvas Theatre as "Theatre For The People". It BCT's our goal to provide a positive, fun, and professional environment to work in as an actor and designer. BCT also wants to create a place that Clevelanders can come to have a good time, whether that is seeing a comedy, drama, musical, or sketch comedy show. BCT's season is very diverse and will attract many different types of theatregoers. It's our goal to get people interested in different entertainment and to break out of their boxes. BCT want to create a new love for theatre. There will always be at least one show in BCT's season that will help build a new interest in theatre for those who may not normally see a show. Blank Canvas Theatre is honored and happy to provide another place for actors and designers to create and for audiences to enjoy.
The Julia De Burgos Cultural Arts Center is dedicated to preserving and sharing the Puerto Rican and Caribbean traditions through the teaching and practice of the visual, performing, & literary arts.
The new MOCA Cleveland, the first building designed in the United States by Farshid Moussavi Architecture (FMA), serves as a catalyst for creativity and growth in a cosmopolitan Cleveland neighborhood, which is home to one of the country’s largest concentrations of cultural and educational institutions. Founded in 1968, the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, a leading force in the cultural life of Northeast Ohio, is recognized nationally and internationally for its vital and creative exhibitions and public programs. These strive to challenge, inspire, and teach a wide range of audiences. Through approximately eight exhibitions a year, all accompanied by public and education programs, and many also by scholarly catalogues, MOCA brings the work and ideas of a diversity of national and international artists to its audiences.
Founded in 2000, TMTP produces concerts, in-school residency programs, radio programming and recordings that create personal connections with the songs, characters and themes of the American musical, document the lives of important American musical theater artists, explore the connections between the musical and the rich diversity of the American experience and examine the relevance of musical theater in contemporary society.
Near West Theatre builds loving relationships and engages diverse people in strengthening their sense of identity, passion, and purpose, individually and in community, through transformational theatre arts experiences.
Opera Per Tutti brings professional quality opera to a broader audience by making it accessible to people from all communities and backgrounds, through performances in a variety of venues, many unconventional and intimate, at affordable prices, with an emphasis on realistic acting, as well as beautiful singing. It is their belief that many people, if given the opportunity, will appreciate the beauty of opera, and be enriched by its transformative quality. Opera Per Tutti also wishes to provide performance opportunities for professional singers and musicians who have chosen to make Northeast Ohio their home, thus encouraging the growth and well being of cultural life in this area.
Talespinner Children's Theatre is a Cleveland-based company that develops and produces highly imaginative, original, collaborative and interactive professional works for children that also stimulate creative growth in its artists.
Theater Ninjas has a reputation for visceral experiences that remain accessible to all audiences. At the core of their identity is the idea of theater as an event, and everything they do feeds into their goal of creating extra-ordinary experiences that resonate long after the show is over. Theater Ninjas believe we can be a champion for our city, a rallying cry for local arts and a draw for the next generation of theater makers.
Formerly The Repertory Project, VERB Ballets’ mission is to promote and develop interest in and appreciation for contemporary dance through performance, programs that promote learning and nurture wellness, audience and community dialogue and advocacy efforts to support the art form. VERB Ballets discovers, collects, interprets and stages choreography that matters to the region and to the world of dance.
The Cleveland Theater Collective is a support organization that formed in 2000 to provide programs and services for theater professionals in northeast Ohio.
