Guidelines for Submissions of Scripts
CPT accepts submissions of ten pages of sample dialogue and a one page synopsis. Turn around time on such submissions can be up to nine months (and sometimes even longer). We only reply to those who include a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope. In order to continue to accept such submissions we need to utilize a form rejection letter that is brief and to the point. We wish that we could respond with more depth and feedback, but unfortunately we cannot. Those offended by such letters should not submit.

CPT does not accept unsolicited scripts. Only submit a full script if you have received an explicit request from the Executive Artistic Director.

Locals who are interested in self-producing plays might be interested in our Big [BOX] series. Big [BOX] applications are made available in the late spring each year and are due in the early summer.

Cleveland Public Theatre produces 6-10 plays a year. CPT’s emphasis is to produce adventurous plays that are somehow outside the mainstream—politically, aesthetically, socially, etceteras. We seek works that challenge and amaze. We are especially interested in works by minorities, women, and local writers (Northeast Ohio). Submissions are considered for production and for our Little Box Series (staged readings).

No phone calls please. No email submissions.
