Cleveland Public Theatre is Hiring a Graphic Design Intern

Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is seeking a Graphic Design Intern to perform design and layout of marketing materials to support the theatre’s 2017/2018 season.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will be available 20 hours per week on site at CPT, with some periods of increased or decreased workload during special events. Design and/or layout projects will include:

  • Postcards, Flyers, Brochures
  • Posters
  • Programs (show, season and annual fundraiser)
  • Advertisements (CPT and sponsor)
  • Image formatting for web and social media

Applicants for this position should be fluent in the principals of layout and print production. Other duties may include hanging, framing and mounting of posters and display materials, aiding the Audience Engagement Associate in maintaining the digital and print archive, and sustaining the plotter room supplies and organization, as needed.

The Graphic Design Intern will utilize existing templates (providing updates as needed) to develop core collateral materials for various shows and programming. There may also be opportunities to develop original concepts for CPT’s education performances, second stage and workshop productions and other design needs. This position would report to the Executive Artistic Director and the Director of Audience Engagement and Media Relations.

Compensation

$9‐12 per hour, commensurate with applicant skills and experience. Position open until filled. Hiring immediately.

Requirements

Degree or equivalent in Graphic Design, Art or related fields is preferred. Industry experience is a plus. The candidate must have strong knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat and Illustrator. The successful candidate will be very detail‐oriented and possess excellent communication skills; both verbal and written. The graphic designer sought by CPT will work well under pressure and be open to direction. Designer must enjoy working in a fast paced, dynamic environment and be able to work independently as well as with a team. Enthusiasm, flexibility and willingness to work in a collaborative fashion is a must. The ideal candidate will successfully navigate tight deadlines and be able juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
