Cleveland Public Theatre Awarded the Inaugural 50/50 Applause International Centre for Women Award from the Playwrights (ICWP)

Cleveland Public Theatre is proud to announce they are one of five recipients of the inaugural 50/50 Applause Award from the International Centre for Women Playwrights (ICWP). The 50/50 Applause Award is for theatres in the United States that have at least 50 percent of their 2011-2012 season feature plays written by women. Other recipients include Little Colonel Theatre, Pee Wee Valley, KY; Nora Theater, Cambridge, MA; Playwrights Horizons, New York, NY; and, Symmetry Theatre, Berkeley, CA.

Cleveland Public Theatre is committed to supporting new, adventurous work by minorities, women and local writers and is proud to have had 50% of their 2011-2012 season feature plays by women, the majority of those being Northeast Ohio artists.

CPT continues to support a diverse group of playwrights though out new work development series like The Dark Room, Springboard and Big Box.

The ICWP is dedicated to the support of female dramatists to express their artistic vision without censorship, harassment or personal danger throughout the world.
