Springing Forth with New Life

Inlet Dance Theatre features three new works and, for the first time, presents a company member’s autobiographical pieceThis concert includes a collaboration with the residents of Judson Manor senior living community, a duet focusing on the need for male mentoring relationships in our society and a group work examining the ancient practice of wearing sackcloth and ashes.

As we welcome the season of new life and renaissance of our beloved city, Inlet Dance Theatre, now in its 16th season, is experiencing a parallel trajectory. Inlet’s recent rapid growth is providing us with challenging and exciting opportunities to live out our mission of using dance to further people in communities beyond our own.  We are privileged to be able to reflect on and explore current social contexts and injustices through our art. This year’s concert features three new works and presents a work of one of our company members, all of which tackle distinctive and diverse subject matter.

Among this year’s numerous premieres, we include a collaboration with the residents of the Judson Manor senior living community, created with support from Ohio Art Council’s Creative Aging Ohio program. Other new works include a duet focusing on the need for male mentoring relationships in our society and a group work looking at the ancient Middle Eastern cultural practice of wearing sackcloth and ashes.  Also, as a first for the company, this concert will include an autobiographical quartet piece choreographed by one the company members, Dominic Moore-Dunson.

INLET DANCE THEATRE is one of the region’s most exciting professional contemporary dance companies. Founded in 2001 by Executive/Artistic Director Bill Wade, Inlet embodies his longstanding belief that dance viewing, training and performing experiences serve as tools to bring about personal growth and development. Inlet’s collaborative artistic staff builds the company’s solid reputation for uplifting individuals and engaging audiences via performances and education programming. The company has an international reputation for excellence and is known for its strong and nurturing education programming, concert performances that are powerful, athletic and theatrical, and repertory that is life affirming and family friendly. In contrast to an industry where people are often used to further dance, Inlet Dance Theatre is committed to using dance to further people. Discover for yourself what makes Inlet unique. inletdance.org
