Apply for The PILOT Project 2025

The PILOT Project

The PILOT Project is a learning community guided by Cleveland Public Theatre’s Executive Artistic Director, Raymond Bobgan, with the explicit goal to explore new forms and new innovations in theatrical performance. This is a workshop where artists will become PILOTs (in a sense) who navigate the expansive complexities of theatrical performance. This work is inspired by Raymond’s successful “Directing Creation” course but will be more of a group process and discussion platform. As a learning community, we will engage in stimulating knowledge exchanges around different theatre-inspired performance trends and ideate around new forms and fresh possibilities. This workshop is a free offering for all artists accepted.

Artists/PILOTs must commit to attending all workshops dates (one absence will be permitted) on Saturdays, 10am – 1pm: 10/18, 11/1, 11/15 & 11/22. To apply for The PILOT Project, send an email with the following criteria to artistic@cptonline.org:

—Email subject should be your last name followed by The PILOT Project.

—Provide name as you want to be called and as it would appear in a program.

—Provide phone number.

—Attach resume. Provide links to any relevant work samples.

—All answers to the following questions must be contained to 2-3 pages:

  1. Why do you want to be a part of The PILOT Project?
  2. What experience do you bring in making plays and/or “not-plays”?
  3. Do you already have some ideas about the kind of work you want to make?
  4. What strengths do you bring to the room?
  5. Where is your learning edge at? In what ways do you hope to grow and learn?
