Station Hope Artist Informational Meeting: You’re Invited!
Dear Northeast Ohio Artists,
Last year on April 26th, 2014, 150 artists and over 2,000 attendees gathered to celebrate the triumphs of the Underground Railroad and explore contemporary issues of Social Justice at St. John’s Church in Ohio City for the inaugural Station Hope.

We are beginning to plan the second annual Station Hope event, a one night festival of entertainment and art that commemorates St. John’s Church and the Underground Railroad and connects this powerful history with today, and CPT would like to invite you to be involved. CPT Now Accepting Proposals for the 2015/2016 Season!
Dear Northeast Ohio artists,
CPT is planning the 2015-2016 Season, and once again we are reaching out to you for great ideas.
CPT is focused on new work that is surprising, unexpected and somehow outside the realm of conventional theatre.
CPT is looking for proposals from Northeast Ohio artists for complete projects. Proposals may be for world premieres, second or third US productions, radical re-envisionings of classic plays or other projects. The show could be your own show or a script you would like to work on
Based on the success of past co-productions and our Big Box series, we are also interested in creating opportunities for artists and groups that would like to retain greater ownership of projects and who can share risk with CPT.

A message from Cleveland Public Theatre: The Neighbor’s Grief is Greener
Due to unexpected Visa issues, CPT’s upcoming presentation of The Visual Theatre of Emanuella Amichai’s production The Neighbor’s Grief is Greener must be postponed. We are extremely disappointed by the situation and regret any disappointment or inconvenience this may cause to our audience and media colleagues.
Along with our partners at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, CPT is working to seek out an alternative date for this production, with hopes that we may present this work at a later point in our 14/15 season. Our partners at the JFC, along with Emanuella Amichai and her company of artists, are hopeful that this can happen and, despite this unexpected turn, we continue to feel strongly about the artistic importance of the work and the potential impact the performance will have on Cleveland audiences.

Faye Hargate’s Creative Workforce Fellowship Video is released!

Faye is a 2014 Creative Workforce Fellow for Theatre. The Creative Workforce Fellowship is a program of the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture. The Fellowship program is supported by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.
In that very church where the video was recorded, there is now an expansive, rich, and hauntingly beautiful performance art installation created by Faye and her mother, visual artist, Joan Hargate. She’s Wearing White… is unlike anything that’s being done in Cleveland right now. And our Faye Hargate is unlike anyone else; original work creator and devisor, performer, teaching artist, visual artist and incredible friend. We are lucky to have Faye call CPT her artistic home. Raymond is Proud to Announce the 2014/15 Kulas Foundation Theatre Composer

“I am immensely grateful and excited to be CPT’s 2013-2014 Kulas Composer Fellow. Working on The Drowning Girls during my 2013 fellowship at CPT provoked in me the idea that the musical score and environmental soundscape of a play can exist as a singular entangled unit. This approach emphasizes the musicality and affect of so-called “non-musical” sounds and the connection of “musical” sounds to the tangible phenomena of one’s existence. My score for Spirits to Enforce is some of my proudest work and is an implementation of these ideas that, in my view, successfully deepens the connection between actor and observer. Cleveland Public Theatre’s Inaugural Director Fellows
Cleveland Public Theatre, Northeast Ohio’s most innovative and adventurous theatre is proud to announce The Director Fellows Program funded by a generous grant from Joan Yellen Horvitz, a long-time friend of CPT.
“The intent of this new initiative is to address Cleveland’s limited pool of directors with experience creating new theatrical work” said Raymond Bobgan, CPT’s Executive Artistic Director. The Director Fellows Program is a year-long residency that provides mentoring, formal classwork and involves Fellows in play creation and directing at least one show in CPT’s season. Two women have been selected as the 2012 Inaugural Director Fellows, Pandora Robinson and Renee Schilling. Each director receives an award of $3,000 and full underwriting of all of their learning and artistic activities during the fellowship.
PANDORA ROBERTSON earned a Master of Arts in Theater Arts from Case Western University. Her extensive portfolio includes directing, acting, dancing and choreography at Great Lakes Theatre Festival, Cleveland Play House, Dobama Theatre, Porthouse Theatre, and Ensemble Theatre. Last season in Big Box, CPT’s festival of new work, Ms. Robinson introduced her original play, Voice Over. This season, she recently created Crash Project a short work forAt-TEN-tion Span and will premiere her new play 13 Most American Dreams in May 2012.
RENEE SCHILLING is a graduate of CSU’s Theatre Program. An actor and director, Ms. Schilling was most recently seen in The Excavation (Theater Ninjas) and as performer and co-author (with Lew Wallace) of 30 Awkward Minutes with Pat and Glenn featured in CPT’s 2011 Big Box series. Ms. Schilling has also directed and developed new work for Ingenuity Festival. At CPT this season, Ms. Schilling created To Fasten Your Seatbelts for At-TEN-tion Span and she directed Lew Wallace in his Big Box solo show Jesus is Dead… and Jerry Garcia is God. CPT Awarded NEA Grant
In December, Cleveland Public Theatre was awarded a $15,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The NEA grant will support the production of Cut to Pieces by CPT Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan and CPT Education Director Chris Seibert.
The NEA Grant will support the final development phase and a full production of Cut to Pieces, a new work that will integrate live performance with video projections, animation, film, and television montage.
