Odysseus Unraveled

Conceived & Directed by Daniel McNamara.

A desperate, yet playful quest for meaning, with little reverence for Homer’s original myth. This fiercely curious, interdisciplinary new work spans from the safe and distant past, to a dangerous and vulnerable contemporary moment on the brink of collapse. Was Odysseus the hero we paint him to be?

Performers & Artistic Contributors: Monica “Journey” Idom, Michael Payne, & Jonathan Apriesnig with Diana Sette playing Penelope

Daniel McNamara is a freelance interdisciplinary theatre and performance artist who recently returned to Cleveland after completing his Master’s degree in Creative Process at National University of Ireland in August of 2017. His formative artistic years were spent as a resident company member and Musical Director of Bread and Puppet Theater in Glover, VT from 2005-2010. As a Bread and Puppet company member, Daniel had the opportunity to perform across the globe, with tours to Italy, Germany, Ireland, Taiwan, Venezuela, Seattle, New Orleans, New York City, Boston, and many more. From 2010-2014 his primary artistic pursuit was presenting his compositions, choreographies, poems, paintings, masks, and stories to the public as puppet shows and parades with the company he co-founded: The Possibilitarian Puppet Theater – also with national and international tours. During the 2015/16 season, he was a Kulas Composer Fellow at Cleveland Public Theatre. In January 2016, he performed in the world premiere of Ohio City Theatre Project’s Incendiaries at Cleveland Public Theatre. In addition to his work on Odysseus Unraveled, he is currently directing the music for Cleveland State University’s production of MARAT/SADE which runs from April 5th – 15th.
