MegLouise Dance presents Outside the Lines

MegLouise Dance is defined by boldness, risk and imagination. Outside the Lines opens DanceWorks 10 at CPT with performances April 1 – 4.

The company kicks off its fifth season with a collection of new works by artistic director Megan Pitcher and associate Sara Whale, as performed by a nine member cast. The group is known for their innovative approach to movement and this production is no exception. It delivers an evening of emotionally charged dancing and thought provoking narrative.

Outside the Lines is a response to the seemingly harmless social systems that perpetuate a tendency toward disconnection, apathy and distraction. The artists of MegLouise Dance construct a vigorous defense against such trends and advocate for a life filled with interaction, experiences and free thinking. They take inspiration from the writings of Emily Dickinson, Stephen Dunn, Mary Oliver and others as they reclaim the flawed, but wonderful surprises of living. The dancers stand behind their message, but they are careful to not take themselves too seriously. The performance travels easily from discomfort to joy and from awkward to delightful.

MegLouise Dance is a collaborative, Cleveland based group that with a national and international production history in the Junction Arts Festival, DUMBO Dance Festival, Outlet Dance Project and Michigan Dance Project. They present throughout Ohio at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival, Ohio Dance Festival and through Columbus Movement Movement. Previous Cleveland performances include the sold out production of Nearly Nude: Deconstructing Beauty in CPT’s Big [BOX] 2009 and showcase performances with Playhouse Square Center, Cuyahoga Community College and Theatre Ninjas.
