As part of CPT's commitment to local playwrights and producers, CPT presents the fourth year of Little Box, a series of staged readings of new work in development. Little Box is modeled after CPT's successful Big [BOX] Series but on a smaller scale, designed to foster works at an earlier stage of development. A diverse body of new plays will be presented with post-show audience discussions. Here is your chance to participate in CPT's mission to support artists creating new work!

LittleBoxCPT is proud to present the fourth year of Little Box. Running from November 11 – November 22 in the Storefront Studio Theatre!

Please note that tickets for Little Box are $10 General Admission and $8 for Students and Seniors.

November 18th: Danger Road

Written by Margi Herwald Zitelli
Directed by Cat R. Kenney

Danger Road tells the story of Erica and Hunter, who were inseparable in high school, but as adults, lead completely separate lives. Hers is a fairly “normal” existence, while he has become a world famous star. When news linking back to their teen years reaches them, it sparks memories both good and bad and makes them reevaluate the adults they have become. While their actual grown-up lives may not mirror what they had planned or expected as teens, Erica and Hunter come to understand the crucial impact they had upon each other. Sometimes we don’t realize the most important adventures of lives until years after we’ve lived through them.

The play jumps back and forth in time between Erica and Hunter’s separate adult worlds and shared teen world. They are joined by The Gang, an ensemble of actors who play multiple roles of the adults who impact Erica and Hunter now and the teen friends (and frenemies) who affected them then.

Teenage Hunter vows to take Erica on “like, a million adventures,” including the most perilous of all, driving Danger Road. As adults, they come to understand friendship is its own adventure.

Margi Herwald Zitelli developed her play Optimus Prime for President at Little Box in 2007; it was produced in 2009 at Fourth Wall Productions. Margi’s play Unethical premiered at CPT’s Big[BOX], also in 2009. She has contributed short plays to shows produced by Habitat for Insanity sketch comedy and Dobama’s Night Kitchen. Margi studied playwriting with Tony winner John Logan at Northwestern University. She is city editor of the Cleveland Jewish News, wife of actor/comedian Matt Zitelli and mother of future comedian Devin.
