As part of CPT's commitment to local playwrights and producers, CPT presents the fourth year of Little Box, a series of staged readings of new work in development. Little Box is modeled after CPT's successful Big [BOX] Series but on a smaller scale, designed to foster works at an earlier stage of development. A diverse body of new plays will be presented with post-show audience discussions. Here is your chance to participate in CPT's mission to support artists creating new work!

LittleBoxCPT is proud to present the fourth year of Little Box. Running from November 11 – November 22 in the Storefront Studio Theatre!

Please note that tickets for Little Box are $10 General Admission and $8 for Students and Seniors.

November 20th: Public Displays

Written by Jonathan Wilhelm
Directed by Doug Farren
Featuring: Alan Branstein, John Busser, Agnes Herrmann, Sarah Kunchik, Deb Magid, Lynna Synder Metrisin, and John Steuhr

A comedy that asks the question: why is it easier to confide to strangers what we really should be telling the people we love?

Four couples; two wedding dresses; a drug deal as an act of charity; a possible sign from God; a dog named Noodle; a picnic in a cemetery and a therapist seeking her own therapy…from her manicurist. Public Displays is a comedic exploration of what we reveal about ourselves in public which might have better been left private.

Jonathan Wilhelm cut his playwriting teeth by writing melodramas for the Amherst Old Time Jamboree while still a teenager. (Sample title: Dark Doings at the Frosty Mug) He later created numerous murder-mystery dinner theatre shows, such as Full Moon Over Piranha Lake, Death by Bedpan and Cyanide-a-go-go. His plays have been seen at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre (Let Me Tell You Something, Girl Story), CPT’s Big Box (G.S.) and John Carroll University (Household Tales). He has also written the librettos for several Fairy Tale Ballets for Ohio Dance Theatre. Many of his works have been developed through CPT/Cleveland Theatre Collective’s Dark Room. As his alter-ego Mr. Hatbox, he has performed twice at the White House Easter Egg Roll, as well as in schools and libraries across the country.
