The pursuit of social equilibrium among men and women is an ongoing battle adopted within each generation since the early 19th century. Why are some women settling for less while others are persevering to the next level? Do women place blame on male society? Men have equal pressure with balancing work, family, and their own identity. Why are men and women viewed so very differently?

To find social equilibrium, we must begin in our own homes. We must analyze the life of adults and children. As adults and children, how are we perceived by our loved ones? Are we treated differently because of our gender? Are we encouraged to achieve our dreams regardless of our gender? Do we treat the adults and children in our home differently simply because of their gender?

Fast Forward – Rewind – Stop explores these perplexing questions about equality. The shape of our future is sketched out by what we experienced in the past. There is a point in our lives where we need to stop and reflect.

Artist Bios:
Jennifer Sandoval has presented her choreography in the cities of Cleveland and Chicago through T.J. & Company Dance Theatre, Dance Chicago, Around the Coyote, Full Circle, Solestance and Morrison Dance Company. Her work has taken her abroad to Avignon, France where it was performed at the International American Dance Choreographers Showcase. She has been commissioned by Terpischore Dance Company and Infini Dance Company to choreograph original works to be part of their repertoire. In 2005, she was awarded the Community Arts Assistance Program grant through the city of Chicago where she resided from 1999 – 2009. Jennifer is a graduate of Kent State University where she earned a B.F.A in dance performance.

Marquez Dance Project explores life’s moments through an artistic scope. The objective behind this contemporary dance company is to recapture moments that are compelling to the human spirit in a theatrical and often surreal interpretation. In developing choreography, it is essential to explore beyond the realm of dance for inspiration. Collaboration from other artistic genres facilitate in creating works that are meaningful and honest.
