DanceWorks Part 2 – Week 1: MORRISONDANCE
25 Years with MorrisonDance!
“What is Dance?” There are as many dances as there are languages. This evening will delve into this question, among other explorations, as the audience is taken through a hodgepodge of “dances” performed by a group of performers who have known many kinds of movement! Celebrating 25 years of sharing the joy of dance, MorrisonDance has been known for its quirky and visually intriguing performances.
You won’t want to miss this eclectic mix of choreography directed by Sarah Morrison, with contributing artists and performers, Amanda Clark, Jennifer Eccher, Anthony Jamison II, David Lenahan, Tabitha Miner, Taylor Raines, Ian Smith, a guest appearance by former company member and national choreographer, Maree ReMalia, and new music composed by Braden Pontoli.
If you are new to dance on stage or a seasoned dance-goer, there will be a little something for everyone!!! From surreal bird-like creatures tipping their cone-shaped hats to Swan Lake, all the way to jumps and rolls exploring the force of gravity at 9.8m/s^2, MorrisonDance productions always ignite curiosity and delight!
For 25 years, MorrisonDance has created and presented unique original productions. This small non-profit dance company finds inspiration in fostering collaboration and idea exchange to explore ways dance can evolve and adapt in a changing world. The Mission of MorrisonDance is to inspire and cultivate public awareness of the art of dance through performances, cross-disciplinary collaborations, and education; to provide, promote, and participate in educational and outreach programs that increase the awareness of dance and that assist and encourage community cultural and artistic endeavors; to research and develop integrated and cross-disciplinary teaching and presentation methods for dance; to create opportunities for artists and performers of various media, and to augment the accessibility of dance as a performing art.
