ROAD TO HOPE is a series of free performing arts events that celebrate hope, honor Cleveland’s Underground Railroad history and address modern day struggles for freedom and justice. Activities will take place in six Cleveland-area neighborhoods from January through June 2016, produced in conjunction with Cleveland Public Theatre’s third annual Station Hope celebration on April 30 at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Now in its third year, Station Hope takes place at the historic St. John’s Episcopal Church—Cleveland’s first authenticated Underground Railroad site—located at 2600 Church Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44113 in Ohio City. Audiences tour the historic church and surrounding grounds to view theatre, dance, music and multimedia performances by Northeast Ohio artists, celebrating Cleveland’s social justice history and addressing current-day struggles for freedom and social change.

“Road to Hope” events will give audience members a “sneak peek” of Station Hope, including short excerpts from larger performances of theatre, music and dance, as well as discussion, lectures and collaborative activities that address some of the most important issues of our time. “Road to Hope” times and location vary, check website for details.

"Road to Hope" and Station Hope are generously funded by the "Our Town" program of the National Endowment for the Arts.
