Everyone's A Critic - Review of Dream of Home

Written by Yuko Kurahashi

Cleveland Public Theatre and Masrah Cleveland Al-Arabi’s مسرح كليفلاند العربي production of Dream of Home حلم وطن, created by the ensemble, Raymond Bobgan, and Faye Hargate, is a powerful storytelling work with the theme of home. The members of Arabic-speaking communities in Cleveland tell their stories about different “homes” that exist in their memories, heritage, and realities. Weaving music, dance, dialogues, and role-playing, the performers express challenges of living between two worlds and exploring how to negotiate different cultures, discoveries, and values in their lives. Pre-show and post-show receptions with food, music, and dancing gave another layer of community-building.
