ANNOUNCEMENT
Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is proud to announce the launch of Cleveland Act Now youth theatre program onsite at CPT. The summer session is geared for youth ages 10–14 years old and the program is offered at no cost. Enrollment is by audition. Youth who have successfully participated in Cleveland Public Theatre’s Brick City Theatre program are ensured an invitation and placement in the program upon successful audition. Cleveland Public Theatre is planning a festive evening in keeping with its tradition of presenting innovative, original artistic work, featuring diverse artists. On Saturday, September 8, 2018, CPT will present its annual fundraising extravaganza and party of the year – Pandemonium 2018: Labyrinth of Desire. Featuring dozens of area theatre, dance, visual, and performance artists and with fabulous food and drink, Pandemonium is a benefit like no other and an opportunity for you to be a featured performer.

Your participation in Pandemonium 2018 will support Cleveland Public Theatre’s challenging and inspiring performance work, ensure that emerging artists and small performance companies have opportunities to participate in the arts, and sustain CPT’s work with youth and with adults in transition. In its 30+ years on Cleveland’s near west side, CPT has been a catalyst for economic activity, job creation, private-sector investment in the community, and led to the area’s designation as an arts district. CLASS DESCRIPTION

Theatre Directing/Creation Class is for theatre directors, writers, actors, designers, and composers who wish to explore the rigors of directing and creating original performances. In this class everyone will direct, act, and create. Participants may also be paired to collaborate on some assignments. The class will not follow a conventional curriculum and will evolve throughout the process. The class will include the creation of 3-4 scene assignments in order for participants to explore class topics and develop new work.

Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is hiring a paid part-time summer Pandemonium Intern. CPT will be accepting applications for this position through Sunday, April 15.

Every September, CPT hosts its one and only fundraising spectacular: Pandemonium. It takes over 6 months to plan; hosts over 1,300 guests, 300 artists who donate their time, and 150 volunteers; and raises between $250,000 and $315,000 each year for our programming. Even with our small but mighty development department of 3 staff members, there is a great need for extra help in the summer as the event approaches. Red Ash Mosaic will tour from Cleveland to New Orleans & Columbus

Spring, 2018

Cleveland, OH – Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is proud to announce a limited tour of Red Ash Mosaic, created by Raymond Bobgan and Cleveland Core Ensemble. The Cleveland Core Ensemble and collaborators will tour this spring to New Orleans and Columbus.

Within this tour, Cleveland Core Ensemble is experimenting with different performance environments, seeking non-traditional and unusual performance spaces. According to Cleveland Public Theatre’s Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan “We want to think of this performance as less of a theatre production and more of an intimate transmission.” Red Ash Mosaic will perform in two cities in collaboration with ensemble-based companies Mondo Bizarro & ArtSpot Productions (in their collective space: Catapult) and Available Light Theatre.

CPT is Hiring Teaching Artists

Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is seeking exceptional Teaching Artists for its celebrated Brick City Theatre program and Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP). Teaching Artists of all performance-related arts disciplines are welcome to apply. The deadline to apply is March 1.

The Teaching Artist position has two areas of responsibility:

  • Instruction: teach the basics of their primary discipline to children participants; create and implement curriculum; collaborate with CPT Education Staff and other professional artists; develop original performance material
  • Administration: work with CPT Education Staff – Program Director in all areas of program delivery including: participant recruitment, management and evaluation; daily class plans and reports; and development of program partner relationships
