CLEVELAND PUBLIC THEATRE IS HIRING AN ASSOCIATE DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is hiring the newly created position of Associate Development Director who is a core part of the CPT staff and will make a meaningful contribution to life at CPT and our community impact.  JOB DESCRIPTION

The Associate Development Director will join our Development team and job responsibilities will be catered to skills of the successful applicant. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in fundraising and/or nonprofit administration. This position reports to the Director of Organizational Advancement and directly supervises two staffers (the Donor Relations Associate and the Grants Writer) in supporting the mission of CPT through fundraising and relationship-building. This position is a year-round, salaried staff position.

This position is responsible for helping to achieve CPT’s fundraising goals, with a focus on administration and staff management. Core departmental work includes donor communications, special events management, capital campaign coordination, expense management, and grants management, as well as supervising the work of the Donor Relations Associate and the Grants Writer which include: donor benefits, database management, support services for internal and external meetings, preparation of donor materials, proofreading and editing, correspondence and documentation related to grants, funder research, and filing systems maintenance. All positions at CPT work across departmental lines, and this position will be involved in many aspects of the theatre.

Salary range is $40k to $45k contingent upon work experience and skill set. Benefits include employer contribution to medical, dental and vision plans (HSA-compatible plans available); up to 28 days paid time off including holidays; option to work remotely one day per week as the needs of the position allow; free tickets to all CPT productions including Pandemonium (our annual fundraising extravaganza); reimbursements for tickets to some other local productions; participation in “First Fridays” (CPT’s lunch-and-learn mentorship program in which staff members engage together around various topics to encourage deeper understanding of the organization); beautiful offices with a view of Lake Erie from our rooftop.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the Donor Relations Associate and the Grants Writer; this position will set deadlines, supervise progress, and liaise with the Director of Organizational Advancement as questions arise
  • Work alongside the Director of Organizational Advancement on both ongoing and new projects, including tasks that arise out of our upcoming capital campaign; delegate pieces and parts as appropriate
  • Schedule and lead internal team meetings as well as cross-departmental meetings
  • Schedule, participate in, and coordinate follow-up for VIP meetings with donors, prospects, board members, government officials, capital campaign constituents, etc.
  • Manage the Grants Calendar, which includes hundreds of proposal and report deadlines, as well as related tickers and reminders
  • Manage the Critical Path for annual benefit event, Pandemonium, including managing a broad range of fundraising, copywriting, and logistics deadlines
  • Manage a portfolio of select VIPs (donors under $1k, in-kind supporters of Pandemonium, select grants officers, etc.); coordinate cultivation and stewardship efforts
  • Thoroughly learn the ins-and-outs of our CRM database; regularly pull reports for both analytical and cultivation purposes
  • Take a birds-eye view of the department and regularly propose and implement improvements, streamlining, and analysis
  • Work as a team member with the artistic and administrative staff at special events, including community-wide and education program events
  • Attend meetings including weekly staff meetings and takes notes as necessary
  • Maintain good work habits including promptness, adherence to CPT workplace policies, preparedness for meetings and events, and responsive follow-through on all donor, supervisor, and staff requests
  • Other related duties as assigned

  • Experience supervising staff members
  • Experience working with grantors, individual donors, government officials, and/or board members
  • Experience working closely with artists and artistic leaders
  • Experience working on a capital campaign would be a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Theatre, Nonprofit Administration, or related fields, or industry experience.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with a CRM database for patron and donor management (CPT uses Spektrix)
