Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is hiring the newly created position of Graphic Designer & Content Coordinator who is a core part of the CPT staff and will make a meaningful contribution to life at CPT and our community impact. JOB DESCRIPTION

The Graphic Designer & Content Coordinator will join a flexible team and job responsibilities will be catered to skills of the successful applicant. Candidates should have at least two to three years of experience. The GDCC reports to the Director of Audience Engagement & Marketing and works with the Audience Engagement & Digital Strategy Manager towards the goals of building audience and expanding the reach of CPT artistic and education programming regionally and nationwide; as well as promoting its internal companies Teatro Público de Cleveland and Masrah Cleveland Al-Arabi.  CPT is less interested in “ticket sales” than in gathering together the many communities of the Cleveland region. This position is a year-round, salaried staff position.

The GDCC is responsible for supporting CPT audience engagement and marketing activities and initiatives across a range of media types. Departmental work includes content creation, graphic design and layout, digital media, video creation, and some copywriting. All positions at CPT work across departmental lines, and the GDCC is involved in many aspects of the theatre.

CPT is seeking a highly creative storyteller with outstanding design, editing, copywriting, videography, and communication skills. The position requires strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, a passion for the arts and the mission of CPT, and a desire to grow and learn new skills. The successful candidate will be curious, collaborative, imaginative, adaptable and flexible, and have experience working with a diverse range of constituents.

Applicants for this position should be fluent in the principles of layout and print production, graphic design, videography, and some social media management.

The GDCC will utilize existing templates and practices to develop core collateral materials for various shows and programming. There may also be opportunities to develop original design concepts for CPT’s education performances, workshop productions, and other design needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Graphic Designer and Content Coordinator (GDCC) will join a flexible team and job responsibilities will be catered to skills of the successful applicant. The following represent both core needs and potential duties.

  • Work with the Director of Audience Engagement & Marketing and Audience Engagement & Digital Strategy Manager to develop robust, content-rich materials for CPT’s patron emails and website content as needed.
  • Work with the AE/DSM to drive social media across multiple platforms with special emphasis on TikTok, YouTube and other video/film-related mediums.
  • Help to proof marketing materials.
  • Create in-house displays, and other artistic initiatives.
  • Design and/or layout projects including:
    • Postcards, flyers, brochures
    • Posters
    • Programs (show, season, and annual fundraiser)
    • Advertisements (CPT and sponsor)
    • Image formatting for web and social media
  • Work with DAEM to create promotional videos such as audience testimonials and other short film footage.
  • Other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Graphic design
  • Writing and content creation
  • Exceptional proofing skills
  • Social media savvy, especially with video-driven platforms
  • Videography
  • Film and audio editing
  • A commitment to centering antiracist and anti-oppressive practices in their work
  • Deadline-driven and able to manage and prioritize amongst multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with e-newsletter platforms, WordPress and/or basic HTML for newsletter creation.
  • Experience working with printers and mailing houses
  • Experience working with other designers
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Graphic Design, Art, Marketing, Film, or related fields, or industry experience.
  • Experience with digital content creation (i.e., motion graphic development, video editing, etc.)
  • Knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Illustrator
  • Large format file preparation and printing

VALUED SKILLS

  • CPT is also home to Teatro Público de Cleveland and Masrah Cleveland Al-Arabi. Fluency in Spanish or Arabic would be a huge plus.

SALARY RANGE

  • $36k to $42k contingent upon work experience and skill set.
