“Cleveland Public Theatre is the place for bold, new, adventurous and relevant works of performance,” says Bobgan. “Our exciting line-up includes amazing new works from local and national playwrights and is full of world premieres.” The 2009-2010 season includes 4 World Premieres, 2 Ohio premieres, 8 weeks of Big [BOX], the return of Little Box and the 10th anniversary of CPT’s acclaimed performance series DanceWorks. Alive — A celebration of premiere performance and original work

“Cleveland Public Theatre is the place for bold, new, adventurous and relevant works of performance,” says Bobgan. “Our exciting line-up includes amazing new works from great American playwrights and home-grown premieres of national stature.” The 08-09 season includes 4 World Premieres, 3 Ohio premieres, the 8th year of Big [BOX], the return of Little Box and CPT’s acclaimed performance series DanceWorks. The trip was arranged by The Council of International Programs USA (CIPUSA), a non-profit international exchange program, and the Turkish Arts for Peace Program. The goal of the trip was to use CPT’s STEP program as a model for developing a youth arts program to marginalized youth in Turkey.

In addition to Raymond Bobgan, other attendees included Kathleen Cerveny, program director for arts and culture at The Cleveland Foundation; Marsha Dobryzynski, executive director of the Cleveland chapter of Young Audiences; Tony Sias, Director of Arts Education for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, local theatre artist and educator and Director of CPT’s In the Continuum; Ismail Douglas, a Capoeira dance expert and coordinator of Cleveland schools’ Motivation Through Excellence program, and Lisa Purdy of CIPUSA.

Cleveland Public Theatre was proud to host a roundtable discussion facilitated by Senator Sherrod Brown in the James Levin Theatre. Senator Brown met with the leaders of the Gordon Square Arts District for an informative discussion and tour of the Capitol Movie Theatre before heading to CPT.

Senator Brown facilitated a lively discussion focused on areas of interest for local arts leaders. Patricipants discussed the impact of collaboration among organizations and the importance of seeking alternate funding sources for the arts. Read More ›
