Spring Session: 7-week after school theatre training program

WHEN

  • February 4 – March 19
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • 4:00pm – 5:45pm

WHO

  • 6th, 7th, and 8th graders

WHAT

  • Taught by Cleveland Act Now (CAN) Academy Lead Teaching Artists Faye Hargate and Zyrece Montgomery, the spring session explores acting fundamentals and ensemble theatre practices with special attention on building vocal power, exploring creative movement, and introductory scene work.

  • Cleveland Public Theatre, 6415 Detroit Ave, Cleveland, OH 44102

COST

  • This program is offered at NO COST thanks to the support of the Cleveland Foundation and other generous supporters.

ENROLL

  • Youth who are new to CAN must participate fully in one audition and then be selected by Lead Teaching Artists for admittance into session. Youth who successfully completed the fall session are invited to participate in the spring session without audition.
  • Enrollment is capped at 20 young artists.

AUDITIONS

  • Tues, Jan 28, 4:30pm-5:45pm
  • Wed, Jan 29, 4:30pm-5:45pm
  • Thurs, Jan 30, 4:30pm-5:45pm
  • Fri, Jan 31, 4:30pm-5:45pm

PREPARE

  • Prepare a 1-2 minute performance (monologue, poem, dance, rap, song, etc.)
  • We conduct group auditions, and youth must be able to stay for the whole audition time frame.
  • We request that a guardian or caregiver is present for the first 30 minutes of the audition. If this is not possible, contact Faye Hargate.
